Violent eviction is currently being perpetrated against homeless peopleby Shibuya-ku authorities.

On the night of December the 13th, after the authorities had suddenly without warning begun construction works putting up a wall around Mitake park, under threat of being forcefully evicted, we sought refuge in the nearby Jingudoori park.

Just as we feared, on the next morning of the 14th of December, construction works building a wall around Mitake park began. Although we managed to escape being imprisoned inside Mitake park by our evacuation the previous evening, of all things, on the evening of that day, shibuya-ku employees and security guards came to Jingudoori park in great numbers and took away all of our belongings. While our friends were surrounded by the guards and prevented from moving, they could only yell, "Don't take our belongings!" "Thiefs!", while the Shibuya-ku employees carried out an illegal, outrageous removal of personal belongings without any legal procedure or even bothering to ascertain the owners. Robbed of everything including food, blankets and work tools, our friends spent a cold night in Jingudoori Park, wrapped in the blankets which comrades had gathered in cardboard boxes. Gritting their teeth and rising back up the next day,  our friends managed to retrieve their stolen belongings from Shibuya-kus storehouse. And they continue to seek shelter in　Jingudoori park, but the security guards supposedly guarding the construction of the wall around Mitake park continue to be deployed to Jingu doori park.  On tuesday the 20th, due to the planned execution of the  official eviction (行政代執行) of Mitake park, we need to expect many more security guard units to be mobilized. Shibuya-ku authorities robbing and chasing away of homeless people must not be allowed to go any further than this. For the sake of protecting the belongings of the homeless people seeking refuge in Jingu doori park, we need to be on alert for the three days of the 19th, 20th, and 21st. We will protect the belongings, retrieve the remaining robbed items, and carry out protests against the Shibuya-ku authorities. We call out for a mobilization of all comrades from everywhere to show solidarity and help us resist.

opinion with violence.
